Good Citizen Luncheon
Each January we host the DAR
Good Citizen Luncheon for area students competing for
the DAR Good Citizen Scholarship. Students are selected
for the scholarship based on qualities of dependability,
leadership, service, and patriotism by their respective
school’s faculty and counselors. Each student must
submit an essay to be judged. This year the topic was “Our American Heritage
and Our Responsibility For Preserving It“. Students hosted at this
luncheon are from the high schools of Dryden, Almont,
Imlay City, Oxford, and Lake Orion. Family members and school
counselors are welcome to attend. We have a guest
speaker, as well. All student competitors are
given a pin and gift bag containing items with a
patriotic theme.
Good Citizens 2009
Four Chapter Potluck
Held the first Saturday in
October by the hosting chapter. Chapters included are
Alexander Macomb, Elizabeth Bienaime, John Crawford, and
Ottawa.
